Local Government and Health Tech — SMP&CO Strategy Review

Mica Health is a digital health technology platform combining everything from AI diagnostics and triaging to telemedicine. We got our start back in 2015 when we built the prototype platform to advocate for more inclusive and accessible medicinal services and doctor consultations. This was early days for telemedicine in the Philippines, and for this, we were awarded by the Harvard Social Innovation Collaborative as Global Trailblazers for 2015.

COVID-19 has made digitised health services more than just a nice to have, into a life-or-death essential. Based on our recent experience, there is a big opportunity for local governments to work closely with health and medical technology sector as a whole in order to better deliver access to their constituents through direct telemedicine systems, or other health tech services. This matters because we need to expand and optimise the current services to ensure that all the other medical concerns, anxieties, and queries of the community are still addressed in spite of COVID-19.

There is nothing more nerve-wracking than fearing unknowns, this is where we believe that business and government can work closely to deliver good service, products, and boost morale at a time where truly — morale saves lives.
